When we started planning and researching ideas for our own Film Noir films we watched a lot of the popular film noir’s that had been professionally produced and directed. Some of these consisted of Double Indemnity, The Big Sleep, LA Confidential, and Brick. All of these films seemed to use the typical film noir conventions, following the clique crime, drama story line with a femme fatale, love triangle, detective (Anti- Hero), death and money. Hollywood's classic film noir period is from the early 1940s to the late 1950s, after this time film noir’s where produced but different techniques were used to modernise the films and captivate the present day audience. These films were then called Neo Noir’s. Attached is BeyoncĂ©’s music video, Dance for You. During research I found this video and found it fit in appropriately with the Film Noir topic we had been given. It used a lot of the visual styles a classic Noir film would use, such as shadows, low key lighting, and venetian blinds. The story line of the video also translates with a Film Noir as it shows a dominate, seductive femme fatale and her influence over the anti-hero.
