Before we started filming we wanted to familiarise ourselves with our characters. In order to do this we made in depth character profiles on each character. We felt this would be very important for the portrayal of their emotions and how they change over the course of the film.
Martha McCaine: Martha is Clark’s wife. She is a housewife and has been brought up to respect everything she has. She has a very loving personality and puts others before herself. Clark means everything to her and she will do whatever she can to help him. She has an innocent personality which is reflected in the way she dresses.
Clark McCaine: Clark is married to Martha. He is very aspirational and aims for the top, however this often means he forgets about everyone else, not taking their feeling into consideration. He owns a newspaper company which is his main priority. He’s smart and very polite but can often be manipulative.
Nancy Hartley: Nancy is a glamorous celebrity/actress who is having an affair with Clark McCaine. She is very opinionated and puts herself before others. She is well known and like the attention to be on her; often coming across a little snobby. However deep down she wants to settle down with the right man and live a normal life.
